Name: Nathan Young
Canon: Misfits
Canon Point: 1x05
Age: 21
Appearance:
At 6', Nathan is tall and gangly, with pale skin and a mess of curly, dark brown hair. He has a number of tattoos, all of these are either of stars or swallows. He has an outline of a star on both the inside and outside of his right wrist, and a trail of three stars on his right hip. On the inside of his left arm he has a swallow with a banner. There's also a small swallow tattoo on his right shoulder blade.
As far as clothing goes, he generally opts for casual wear. He has a variety of t-shirts, which he usually wears under either a shirt or hoodie. He wears jeans, usually baggy and occasionally ripped. He does sometimes wear drainpipes, though. For footwear he favours either Converse or similar.
Inventory:
Nathan will be arriving in his community service jumpsuit and his Converse, along with a singular bin bag.
Pockets:
- Lighter
- Half-pack cigarettes (5 remaining)
- 1 pack rizla
Hidden inside his sock:
- Nearly diminished pack of weed (just enough for 1 joint)
Bin Bag:
- 1 Henley jacket
- 1 dark blue hoodie
- 1 t-shirt
- 1 pair ripped jeans
Abilities:
Nathan is immortal. Although he can be killed, he always comes back, though how long it takes seems to vary. If he does die, he comes back fully healed, but this healing doesn't take effect unless he's actually died. It's been shown that serious injuries that don't result in fatalities aren't something he can recover from, as shown when he is brain damaged in a later altered timeline. As an extension of his immortality, Nathan is able to communicate with the dead.
His power can be temporarily reversed by the effects of ecstasy, though it still seems he can communicate with the dead even when he's mortal. He is also currently unaware of this ability.
History: Wiki
Personality:
Nathan is a screw up, through and through. Though probably not something to be proud of, it's something he embraces. He lives life for the moment, taking things from one mistake to the next. Overly impulsive, Nathan isn't one for thinking his actions through. If he's going to mess up, he'll do it spectacularly, something he seems to revel in at times. The incident that led up to Nathan receiving his ASBO didn't really start out as anything too serious. He tells people he was done for "eating some pic'n'mix", which whilst not the full story, is exactly what it started out as. After being caught by the manager of the bowling alley he was in, instead of paying for the sweets in his mouth like he was asked, he opted to amp the situation up to the max, making fun of the manager for having a girl's name, accusing him of being a 'chick with a dick', then faking an epileptic fit to give himself the chance to attempt an 'escape' through the gap at the end of the bowling lane. Instead of giving up and paying then, Nathan proceeded to spend the rest of the evening winding up the manager with various false ways to pay for the damaged he'd caused until he eventually got bored and annoyed at a dig he'd taken at the relationship Nathan had with his dad. Whilst he was calling the police, Nathan casually stapled the managers hand.
Events like that are nothing unusual where Nathan's concerned. He loves taking things as far as he can, seeming not to care that his inability to know where to stop drives people away. The more he can see he annoys people, the better.
Nathan has a difficult relationship with his parents, to say the least. He was clearly very close to his mother before she threw him out, and to an extent, after. He's extremely possessive, driving away all his mother's boyfriends to make sure he had all her attention to himself. He even went so far as to pretend he was being sexually abused by one boyfriend, just so she would leave him. Although he didn't accept her current boyfriend at first, he's at least come to realise there are some things his mum needs that he can't give her, even choosing to stay illegally squatting in the community centre to give her the room she needed to keep her relationship with her boyfriend working.
Whereas Nathan's possessive of his mother, he does as much to drive his father off as he can. He has a deep seated resentment of him for not being there when he was younger, leading him to avoid having anything to do with him once he got older. A lot of his need for attention seems to have stemmed from his relationship with his dad. Although it pushes people away (and at times Nathan seems to act as though that's what he wants), he has a lot of insecurities that seem to be based around his father's absence. He's still upset by him leaving him and his mum alone, and for how little of him he saw after that. He's suffered a lot of let downs from his father, including once being left alone in Ikea on his eighth birthday which resulted in him being bought dinner by a paedophile. Luckily Nathan's dad returned before anything else could happen, but unsurprisingly it's still a situation that's stuck with him.
For all that Nathan loves making jokes and attention seeking, he does have a more sensitive side to him. This can be seen in his reluctant acceptance of his mother's boyfriend and lying to her so she doesn't realise he's homeless and worry. He also frequently shows a softer side to Kelly, remaining sensitive when someone's power leaves her bald, putting himself at risk to rescue her when she's been brainwashed, and, although this hasn't happened to her yet, refraining from making use of the obvious joke potential when she unintentionally sleeps with a gorilla in human form. For the most part, anyway. In the first series, Simon was his most frequent target for bullying, but in the second he does start to look out for him more in his own way.

First Person:
[The video opens with a bewildered looking youth in a grubby, orange jumpsuit holding the camera at arms length. When he speaks, the Irish accent quickly becomes apparent.]
Okay, first off I'd like to thank whoever conveniently decided to leave me with some form of communication, even if it is utterly useless for getting in touch with people I actually care about.
Second? A big fuck you to whoever's fault it is that I appear to be stuck here. I mean, come on! What the fuck!? Clearly I'm not dead, because hello? Immortal. So, what could possibly be going on here?
[At that he drops the confused look, rolling his eyes and looking annoyed instead.]
Oh, wait. Of course! It's something to do with the storm. Which is just a shocker, I know. It's not like that happens every week, or anything.
[A beat. Just waiting for that sarcasm to sink in, then...]
Ohhhhhh, no, sorry. It does. So, I know exactly what's going on here. It's someone's fucked up idea of a super power. Which means you're either a beautiful, barely legal girl, planning on doing something horrible to me, or...
[Nathan gasps, eyes widening with 'realisation'.]
You!
You're the probation worker. You sick bastard! I thought I could trust you. For once, I thought we had a probation worker we could trust. To guide us, to reform us, to refrain from trying to brutally murder us...
Instead you're pulling me into your sick, perverted fantasies, so you can have your filthy way with me.
[Throwing a dramatic arm over his face, Nathan lets out a loud, false sob.]
Be gentle with me. No one's ever taken me that way before.
Post/comments.
Third Person:
Homeless, jobless, girlfriendless, super powerless and with a criminal record, Nathan hadn’t thought his situation could get much worse. Which was stupid, of course. Things could always get worse. And thinking they couldn’t was sure fire way to make sure that they would. Which they had. Drastically. Now he was friendless, too.
Alisha, Curtis and Kelly were all brainwashed. Who even knew what had happened to Weird Kid. Although he probably deserved exactly what he was getting for abandoning him like that. Nathan couldn’t help but feel he was getting what he deserved for abandoning Kelly, too.
The memory of the night before still haunted him. Kelly’s room, bare and unwelcoming. Her new look, improved to anyone except Nathan. Worse still, her attitude gone. No glowering, no threats, no punching... come to think of it, it was probably the first conversation they’d ever had where she’d gone completely without hitting him. Or at least telling him to shut up. She’d even called herself a ‘horrible chav’. Which, okay, she was, but she never admitted it. And woe betide anyone who dared call her one.
Seeing Kelly like that had been heartbreaking. And the last straw. How could he stay here with everyone his age part of some freakish, friend stealing, virgin cult? It wasn’t like there was anything else for him here. The community centre was too dangerous to sleep in now. He’d be kidnapped and virginised as soon as his head hit the pillow. He couldn’t go home. His mum wouldn’t want him moving back in. Not with things with Jeremy going so well. And his dad... Nathan wasn’t about to stoop so low as to ask to stay with him.
Which was how he’d come to be at the train station, with two heavy bags and a heavy heart. With nothing else for him here, it was time for him to get the hell out of dodge, before he was captured just like everyone else. The announcer’s voice blared out over the speakers and Nathan stood, tuning out the noise of the speaker and the train as it rolled in, not quite able to believe he was about to do this.
The doors slid open. Nathan stood there. The doors slid closed. Still Nathan stood. The train pulled away, leaving Nathan alone on the platform. Nathan stayed unmoving, mind made up.
He wasn’t going to let them get away with this. Not anymore. No one got the best of Nathan Young. Especially not some Virtue Virgins who thought they could mess with his friends.
Anything Else? I don't think so. The majority of this app is recycled, just so you know.
